“I adore everything about I Love You, Punk by Su Flatt & Zach Hannah, a collection of poems plumbing the depths of love between two poets. Minutia becomes epic and small acts of tenderness transmogrify into sweeping gestures of eternal devotion. The forms are richly varied; not just saying it – straight or slant – but living it, acting it out from moment to moment. Tough, skittish, playful, boundless. Two voices entwined, two lives enmeshed. The relationship explored is like a ball whacked back and forth over the net of their craft, and the poems show they are playing for keeps: imagistic and anchored in the reality of lived experience. Graceful aging upside whatever misspent you inspires – strategies for living, likely. Silly and serious, like a game that matters. “Let’s not love like grown-ups do. / I want to fall slowly and like with you.” Always a response to go with the call.
– Tony Brewer, author of Good Job, Lightning (Stubborn Mule Press)
